Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and Onlays can be the best option in larger restorative applications. Inlays and Onlays are incredibly strong due to the fact they are custom made from quality porcelain materials, CEREC, Emax and Zirconia. They are often referred to as indirect restorations as they are fabricated outside the mouth and cemented in place to ensure a precise and reliable fit.
Used to repair moderately damaged back teeth, inlays and onlays are able to withstand excessive amounts of grinding and biting pressure, naturally occurring towards the back of the mouth. They are much more effective than white fillings or amalgam restorations as they are cemented in place and can prevent your tooth from cracking or deteriorating further.
During the procedure for an inlay or an onlay, we’ll prepare the tooth and ensure there is no remaining decay. Following this we’ll take a series of impressions and measurements which are then sent to our specialist dental laboratory.
Once your inlay or onlay has been custom made by our ceramist, it will be cemented into place. At this point your bite will be carefully checked and adjusted thus ensuring that your restored tooth functions correctly with your existing smile.
At Dental Serenity we have a CEREC 3 ceramic milling available onsite. Ask if we can improve your teeth with stronger restorations without needing to have a second appointment or the use of temporaries.
